AMDAL– Indonesian Environmental Feasibility Assessment

The AMDAL (Environment Impact Assessment) is one of the key regulatory approvals required for the Weda Bay Nickel Project to proceed. The AMDAL consists of several documents including the Terms of Reference (Kerangka Acuan), Environmental Impact Statement (ANDAL) and Environmental Management and Monitoring Plans (RKL & RPL). The AMDAL process includes a comprehensive consultation and socialization program with local, provincial and central stakeholders. The subsequent documentation (5 volumes, 700 pages) was submitted to Indonesian authorities in February 2009,and was approved in June 2009.
